The Abilities of a Shinigami

There are two types of ability for a Shinigami: Hadou and Bakudo. Hadou stands for destructive arts, whereas Bakudo stands for binding arts. The techniques under them are rated with a number: the higher the number, the more powerful the technique.

Hadou - Destructive Arts
  • Hadou #1 - Sho: Sho (thrust) gives off a burst of invisible reiatsu which will push the opponent, or all around the user, away from them. The more reiatsu used, the increased power and range of the technique varies.
  • Hadou #4 - Byakurai: Byakurai (white lightning) uses the index finger to blast off a beam of "white lightning", causing high amounts of damage. This beam can be moved if the finger is moved with it.
  • Hadou #31 - Shakkaho: Shakkaho (shot of red fire) charges a ball of red energy on the hand before firing it off, causing damage to whatever it hits. This is the first Hadou taught to students in the Shinigami academy.
  • Hadou #33 - Sokatsui: Sokatsui (blue fire, crash down) fires off a blast of blue energy which causes high damage to whatever it hits. It is similar to Shakkaho (shot of red fire) but is longer, and more graceful, in it's appearance and movement.
  • Hadou #54 - Haien: Haien (abolishing flame) shoots a globule of purple energy which when something is hit will cover it in purple flames, incinerating it to ashes in moments.
  • Haduo #63 - Raikoho: Raikoho (thunder roar cannon) creates a yellow energy similar to lightning which can be shot as a large beam or as the ball itself, causing near-unparalelled area damage.
  • Hadou #73 - Soren Sokatsui: Soren Sokatsui (twin lotus blue fire, crash down) is a more powerful version of Sokatsui (blue fire, crash down), firing off a double blast instead of one. These jets can hit 2 opponents, or combine to deal more damage.
  • Hadou #90 - Kurohitsugi: Kurohitsugi (black coffin) forms a box of black and purple energy around the opponent, before the insides erupt with slicing reiatsu, causing serious damage and lacerations to those trapped inside.

Bakudo - Binding Arts
  • Bakudo #1 - Sai: Sai (restrain) locks the opponents arms behind their backs.
  • Bakudo #4 - Hainawa: Hainawa (crawling ropes) fires a yellow rope of energy at the opponent, which wraps around their entire body.
  • Bakudo #9 - Geki: Geki (strike) covers the opponent in a red light, paralysing them.
  • Bakudo #58 - Kakushitsuijaku: Tracks and locates any spiritual force the user focuses on. To activate it, the user must draw a circle on the ground, cut into four parts with a specific character in each. The incantation animates the circle, causing various numbers to appear within until the specific set is found. The number set seems to be a variation on longitude and latitude.
  • Bakudo #61 - Rikujokoro: Rikujokoro (six rods of light prison) creates six hovering beams of golden light which then slam into the opponent, around the midriff, forming a disc with them in the center; this stops their movement entirely, limbs included (speciality of the Kuchiki clan).
  • Bakudo #75 - Gochutekkan: Gochutekkan (quintet of iron pillars) summons five incredibly large pillars, made of iron and stone, to pin an opponent to the ground.
  • Bakudo #77 - Tenteikura: Tenteikura (heavenly rickshaws of the silken air) is used by the user drawing markings on their arms and then is able to transmit messages from themselves to those within the same area, allowing them to transmit orders/conversation to an ally, or even an enemy.
  • Bakudo #81 - Danku: Danku (splitting void) creates an energy barrier in the form of a rectangular wall, which is said by numerous Taichou (Captains) to be able to stop Hadou up to #90.

The following are usable only by those who specialise in Kido (see biography template)
  • Hakufuku: Hakufuku (white crawl) creates the appearance of black and purple feathers (contrary to it's title) dropping down in a radius around the user. Anyone caught within this will instantly be put into a deep sleep, comatose.
  • Kyomon: Kyomon (mirror wall) creates a wall which is powerful from one side, almost unbreakable, but easily destroyed from the other side. This is used to protect people without imprisoning them, as it serves to prevent anyone entering or breaking in. Cannot be used defensively in combat, but can be used to help seal up forts/houses in times of war. Attacks which hit the strong side are reflected back, hence it's title.

Other Techniques (usable by all, of any rank after academy)
  • Shunpo: Shunpo (flash step) is a supplementary way of moving with incredible speed, accompanied by a sound like that of a thrown weapon. It can be used to cover distances of around 40 meters, using an insane burst of speed. This gets faster when trained more with, and the higher in power you are (for instance, a Captain's shunpo could not even be seen by a 6th seater).

Taichou (Captain) Techniques
  • Utsusemi: Utsusemi (cicada, molting) is a technique which is literally a glorified Shunpo (flash step). Moving with incredbile speed, they leave behind an afterimage which is exactly alike them, which vanishes when they reappear; making them seem fasterthan they actually are. It is possible to use it to get to one point, stab an opponent, then go straight back to your afterimage without it vanishing; making it seem like you hurt them without moving. The afterimage could be noticed due to the fact it is unaffected by nature: rain will go though it, and it does not breathe.
  • Hanki: Hanki (reverse demon) is used by charging static reiatsu into the palm of your hand, then thrusting it to an opponent or to an attack, negating the reiatsu in use. This can stop a flash step, if you catch up with them, or halt an attack such as Soren Sokatsui (twin lotus blue fire, crash down).
  • Shunko: Shunko (flash cry) creates a grey electrical reiatsu around the user, which enhances their ability to use hand-to-hand combat. Able to move faster, as it creates large gusts of wind, it punctuates punches and can be fired off in long arcs to harm an opponent without moving.

Hadou #90 - Kurohitsugi (black coffin), cannot be taken at character creation unless both rank limits are met (Captain level) and ADMIN approval has been given.
