- Appearance: Iida has a powerful look going on: his Captains robes flow elegantly over the classical facade of the Shinigami uniform, his blue-hilted Zanpakuto poking out from the side, the sheathe visible just at the bottom of his robes, sometimes scraping the floor. He has lengthy hair which he keeps in a bandanna, though a long lop of it protrudes down over his face, which is handsome and un-scarred, though it does appear to have been wounded in the past, somehow. His musculature is wiry and lean, well-proportioned to body and limbs, and his strength is much greater than it would appear.
- Personality: A loyalist, he gives his all for the Shinigami and is very kind to his subordinates: though he does not punish failure, and encourages learning from it, it secretly hurts him to see those he trained fail like that, as if he himself is a bad person. Enjoys defeating Hollows as he knows he isn't killing, but cleansing. Easily befriended, he is kind and calm and has a good sense of humour: as well as a razor-sharp intellect.

- Biography: Iida was born into a rough area of Rukongai and grew up fighting, but did not sustain wounds due to a natural reflex ability: able to dodge all that was thrown at him in life. This fighting skill attracted the attention of the area's monitor, a fat Shinigami who took him into the Academy.
Learning all he could he excelled to the point of high-recogniton by the captains, and soon became a member of the Gotei 13 and joined into Squad 7. He spent the years progressing through the ranks until vice-captain, before the Captain of Squad 3 was KIA.
Taken for trials, he attained his Bankai on the eve of them and the uncontrollable Bankai all but killed his opponent, ensuring his entrance as Captain, to which he has stayed for... a very long time.
