Biography--- Continued on yet ANOTHER reply

Post  icykiller on Sun Apr 20, 2008 12:08 am

- Biography: Tanabe Satoyashi was born in 1910 to a young, somewhat infamous actress in Japan. She was known for performing nearly any role in any play, just to get her name known, and she would do a great job at anything. Her wording, her tone, and her craft were all perfect; but she was known even more for her dancing in musicals. She would dance until the audience could focus on nothing else, and she would steal the show.

So it was no surprise that Satoyashi showed talent from an early age. Taught by his mother, he received the best practice ever, as a side in musicals, playing the violin all over Japan, each time ultimately arriving in their two-bedroom flat in the Japan of the Revolution. Then in the year 1923 it all changed for the boy and his mother. She found Satoyashi something he had been missing all his life, a father.

Initially the couple was supposed to get married and wait a few months in Japan to allow Satoyashi's school to end before they would move to America. But Satoyashi's step-father couldn't wait; to enroll Satoyashi in "actual" music classes, to resume his stocks, to resume the high-life in his New York Mansion. Satoyashi didn't argue, it wouldn't have done any good. And to tell the truth, he was excited to see how much they could teach him about playing the violin.

In 1927, America brought to the family much more than Satoyashi's step-father promised. Satoyashi found that, with the aid of his mother and the help of his new father's money, his career was only just beginning. As performances became more and more frequent in the rising incomes, Satoyashi came to the acme of his career. He went all over New England to play tunes he had only ever heard once or twice before.

He was caught in the lime-light; he was seeing the haze of a life as a star. He continued on this path for two more years before everything collapsed. The Great Depression struck America like a thousand swords, cutting all income from most families and stabbing through the heart others. Families split up to find work, the economy had officially collapsed under the weight of families like Satoyashi's.

His father, who had put all of his money in stocks, became as the poorest men in the city. Companies he had relied on were falling to pieces; money he had been intent on was no longer available. In short, Satoyashi's family went broke. And without his father's backing, Satoyashi's career soon faltered and fell, too. But Satoyashi didn't mind. Having lived without much money for thirteen years of his life, the boy learned how to make due quickly again.

But that’s when his big struggles began. He saw people around him literally starving, women and children abandoned by their families, and courage falling to pieces. He couldn’t help their desperation, no matter how hard he tried. Working as many jobs as he could, he would spend all he needed to on their family, then give the rest to houses filled with abandoned children.

But back home, things were not going well. Satoyashi's mother and step-father were arguing, fighting back and forth over little things; eating, sleeping, and bathing. The arguments would turn into near-fist fights, and most assuredly Satoyashi's father was more fit than his mother for a fight. So Satoyashi would get in front of the first punch, and no others would strike. His bloodied lip, bruised neck, and near-broken shoulder were all signs of these moments. But in no way was his father throwing the punches. Satoyashi's mother would be the antagonist, and Satoyashi would simply always be in her way.

When this all began, Satoyashi heard a rumor; that Japan was a shining city again, and that Asia was thriving while America suffered. Of course, Satoyashi didn't know it was untrue. He simply imagined his first home, the two-bedroom flat in the brick house he and his mother used to rent. He could imagine the elderly men playing their games of sake and cards on the lower floor, and smell the smoke of their cigars. Suddenly, he longed to be back in Japan.

Two years passed of this, and Satoyashi finally saved up enough money in his personal funds for what he needed. He had spoken to his father, and they had made an agreement. He would save enough money for Satoyashi and his mother, and his father would join when he had enough of his own money was saved up.

Re: Tanabe Satoyashi

Post  icykiller on Sun Apr 20, 2008 12:10 am

When Satoyashi was leading his mother to their house for the last time before their departure, he rounded a corner to see three men standing with guns facing his mother. Below is an exact narrative of what happened in that day..

"What do you want?" Satoyashi asked them somewhat confrontationally as he watched their weapons and their body language. Years in the theater and dance had told him how to read it, and they were definitely getting ready to do something.

The two bigger men, each on one side or another of the short man in the middle, both stepped forwards and the one on the right spoke, "We hear you had the money to buy tickets out of America? And we heard you were going to use them on you and your poor mother there?"

Satoyashi's mother spoke up, about to tell the man off before Satoyashi stepped in front of her and cut her off mid-word. Something wasn’t right, and he wasn’t about to let her get hurt over this. "We don’t have anything, sirs. I think you might be off your rock a bit, though. Who might have told you that?"

The man in between the two smiled, "That great step-father of yours owes us some money. We simply came to collect from his next of kin."
Satoyashi slipped the tickets out of his shirt sleeve, slipping them to his mother who was behind him, "Did he tell you about the tickets? Because if he did, he’s a dirty rat who lies about everything."

"Oh no," the short man spoke up again, "we have made a dire mistake. You are right, after all. But if we can't get money in return, I think we'll take something of value from him." As he spoke the words, a flash like white lightning flared out of the man on the left's gun and caught Satoyashi in the throat. Satoyashi fell, and sputtered just a few words to his mother before everything went black and cold.

"Get out of America.. Take Da'.. He needs to get out of here more than I do, now.."

It was just a moment before he couldn’t remember what happened, if it was a dream at all, and Satoyashi was staring down at a storm drain, looking for his mother. He was dead, and he didn’t even know it or accept it.

A voice behind him spoke up, "There is a lot of violence in this area, boy. In this entire country. Seems you’ve fallen victim to it." Satoyashi turned to look at the man, only to see a black-robed figure with a dagger at his belt. A dagger was the closest description Satoyashi could remember, it just looked like a big knife in a sheath. "It's a pity when people die, though. Seems you might not even get a proper burial."

Satoyashi spoke up at that, "What are you talking about? I didn't die."
The shrill voice laughed, "No, you're just outside of your body because you thought it would be cute to do such a thing!" The robed figure ran a hand through his black hair as he laughed at Satoyashi, evidentially thinking Satoyashi was kidding about his ignorance as to his death.

"I am not dead!" He yelled at the top of his voice, looking at the black-robed man standing before him, who only gave him a complacent smirk in return. "Quit looking so smug, you're not right! If I was dead I'd be in heaven!"

"Oh, and you assume you deserve that just yet. Maybe the big man up there is testing you; see how you do in this world for a time against demons?" Humbly, the black robed man said these words, starting to unsheathe a blade from his belt, not much bigger than a pocket knife. Satoyashi wondered why he even bothered using a sheath for it.

Satoyashi took a step back, as small as the blade was, it was a blade. "What in the bloody hells are you talking about" He was tired, hungry, and most of all confused. "And why are you getting out a knife? If you're loony, I…aghh!" Right then, as he was about to tell the man off and bolt, something charged him from behind. Was there another man attacking him, too? No, as he winced in pain, nearly fainting and looking down, he saw a cone-shaped… thing… poking through one of his shoulders. Then he felt a great lurch forward, and he felt like he was going to vomit. What he saw made him want to throw up even more than before.

He saw his mangled body, bruised and broken laying at the feet of a woman—his bloodied mother—just a few feet away. And then he blacked out…

He woke up on a bed of grass. But as he opened his eyes and looked around, he realized that the grass wasn't the green color of grass... it was pitch black. Just like the rolling, sunless skies. What was this place? Flashes entered his mind, flashes of a mask. Red light came before these, the flashes turned more intense, slowly. Then, he returned to his own little reality. He noticed himself grasping at his own face, as a mask slowly formed over it. Yet another flash of red light, the mask was gone. With another flash, he saw a pale figure standing before him. It looked exactly like him, but whiter, eviler than him. One last flash as it muttered a word sentence, and it was gone. "Wake up, boy." He looked around, hoping for a way out as the sand suddenly seemed to fall, and he started to sink through the floor. He was going to drown... in this dark place.

No, he thought, no, I won't die like this. Not here, not now. I’m dead. But I'm not gone.

He woke up again, pinned against the building with the beast roaring and snapping at his legs. He kicked back uselessly, hitting the thing right in its eye. It reared back, letting go of its "prey" for a moment while Satoyashi got a good look at it. It was great, like a rhino on two legs. And it looked like it was wearing a mask made of bones. It started to charge again.

Satoyashi brought his arms up to defend himself as little as he could, but gasped in fear as it neared until.. The black-robed man jumped in front of him and held out the tiny dagger, crouching low. The beast ran horn-first into it, and started to disappear as the sturdy little dagger cut right through the beast, cleanly cutting it in two.

The man introduced himself as a Death God, something he called a Shinigami. And yes, it was confusing at first. But it also made sense after Satoyashi saw it all, remembering the hollow. But before Satoyashi could even ask the man his name, the butt of the dagger came to his forehead, and he found himself in a place where he felt completely at-odds again. Rokungai, his new home, was just as bad off as the Depression was.

After he arrived in Rokugani, Satoyashi began to feel a hunger in the very bottom of his stomach, more like a distant yearning. Knowing full-well that he didn't need to eat, he thought it might have been just a longing to chew on something, for the habit he had so much after he'd been dead so long.

It took Satoyashi two months before he would even accept the sight of another spirit. And it was then that Satoyashi began to befriend a much-older spirit, Baruka Iye, who had been in Soul society for many years. He was Egyptian, though not from Ancient times, simply from the 1800's. Together they plotted, laughing about becoming famous as Captains of Shinigami divisions... and it was then that Satoyashi decided. He had to become a Shinigami, even if it meant he wasted thousands of years of his afterlife, he would become one to protect people as he never could do in his first life.

And there, one year to the day after he had died, Satoyashi stood in front of the gates to Seireitei. He never barred passage, never got in the way. Passing folk would ask, "Why are you standing here, boy?" And his only answer would be, "I have to get in there. I will become a Shinigami, and if I stand here long enough; they have to open the gates for me."

During those four weeks that he stood there, the Gate Keeper often questioned Satoyashi, and Baruka who brought him water; sometimes even food, since he knew his friend's desire to eat. But it wouldn't be until the entire month had gone of Satoyashi standing there, sleeping on a cot Baruka brought outl through rain, and cold, and sweltering days. Finally, one Shinigami came out to speak to him.

The Shinigami asked him very few questions. He spoke to him slowly, calmly...

"So, why is it that you are sitting here exactly, boy?" The older man asked with a faint smile on his lips. He looked roughly twenty-three, with black hair tied behind his head and paper-white skin. As he spoke, he was setting up a small picnic blanket and pulling out objects to create tea with.

Satoyashi stood as he heard that voice, having been previously lying down and nearly being asleep. It was nearing midnight, and the streets were clear. "I have to become a Shini... Because you have to let me in those doors, sir." He demanded this almost arrogantly, though the man would realize that it was partly in jest.

As tea was set up, the man looked at him, "You're honest, at least. Why do you supposedly need to become a Shinigami? Surely there is enough excitement in Rokugani for you?" He had finished setting up tea, and was already letting a candle he had brought heat the pot.

At the man's words, Satoyashi laughed, "Surely there is for me... But I'm not doing this just for me. I am doing this so that, perhaps one day, I can be strong enough to defend these people. I couldn't do much for people when I was alive. I figure... I'm dead, why should I be afraid?"

"Because you can be destroyed, completely erased from this world." The Shinigami said, taking a sip from his tea afterwards.

"So are you saying I should waste this chance I have to do something good, this last chance?" Satoyashi retorted, eyes growing wide out of frustration.

The man took a sip of tea, smiling, "Alright, we will test you. But first, would you like something to eat? Are you hungry?" The man asked this in a pointed way, as if this was the test.

"Not really, although it seems there is barely enough food to go around here." Again Satoyashi answered with complete honesty, just never having entered the topic of food in his conversations with Baruka.

The older man smiled, packing up all of his supplies except his teacup, which he finished the last from, then set down. "Then off we go. Say goodbye to this part of Rokungai. We're off to the Academy."

Re: Tanabe Satoyashi

Post  icykiller on Sun Apr 20, 2008 12:11 am

And so Satoyashi found his way into the heart of Seireitei, eventually enrolling in the Academy and swearing allegiance to the Gotei, and to the balance of souls.

During his time in the Academy, he was known for his often over-confident role and his ability to always step-up to a challenge, even if he couldn't necessarily win.

He began his specialization then, becoming a star warrior, learning the strongest Zanjutsus and Hohou he could master. Of course, at those times they were simply powers to swing harder or move just a step quicker, but they helped him to outpace most of his class.

Upon graduation, he was taken into the Tenth Division. Mostly because he asked to, and no Captain found a reason to not let him; but also because he was skilled enough to be considered an asset to the Division. He also heard, upon graduation, that Baruka had finally taken the steps to become a Shinigami, and he would be completing his Academy time in six years' time.

During the time of the Quincy and Hollow wars, Satoyashi proved himself worthy in small battles, fighting and destroying both of the enemies to defend the souls in Seireitei and in Rouging in general. He felt like he was not fighting them for the Shinigami, but for the souls who would eventually come to Rokungai. He felt like he was fighting for their chances to have a home. He was never given many responsibilities, save protection of the very few Shinigami lower than him and the protection of as many souls in Seireitei as he could possibly save.

It was during that time that Satoyashi grew to favor his captain. The man fought a few times, protecting the weaker Shinigami and completely putting his power behind his blade. To Satoyashi, this was the most amazing thing in the world. Countless times he tried to connect with his Zanpakuto, but it all seemed fruitless.

Satoyashi remained alongside a nameless, seemingly heartless Zanpakuto who remained steadfast in its attempt to circumvent any chance he had to converse with it until Satoyashi was fifty-six years old. He fought hollows, developing a side to himself that he found amusing. In a real fight, he was becoming more and more concerned with protection, but he felt intent on destroying the antagonists to protect. As if killing was the end-all, he found himself purifying and destroying Hollows at every turn.

And when Satoyashi was fifty-six; his life would again take a turn. A turn, this time, for him to have a more serious role in Seireitei. He was asked to be a leading player in a raid on a place where Hollows had recently started to breed by hundreds. Sources said that this was due to the nature of the place and the creature that was creating them. It was Saint Louis, Missouri, in America; and Satoyashi found his part in a graveyard in memorial to the veterans of World War I. So many disheartened souls, all fighting to connect. None of them could, and they were all becoming hungry, Hollow.

Baruka was assigned to another group, one designated to spearhead the assault. He and Satoyashi were to meet in the middle of the graveyard, and from there fan-out. They would have gotten the attention of the "mother" hollow. They met, but only on poorer terms than they wished. Baruka had been killed, a corpse lying in the center of the battle as the "Mother" laid over him, feeding on the intensity of his Reiatsu.

The beast looked like an overwhelmingly large grape, bloated from souls it had consumed. With a mask covering an entire side, the beast loomed over the corpse of the fallen Baruka, as if picking the best way to consume the remains. Baruka's spiritual density was gone, and his Reiatsu had dropped off of Satoyashi's mind completely.

It wasn't long before Satoyashi found the right thing to do, and lashed out against the Hollow. The cut he opened sprayed a green substance over his face, and Satoyashi fell back. Who knew what was in the gasses? But it didn't matter; it had put Satoyashi to sleep.

It felt like Satoyashi was asleep for hours before his eyes opened up. The black grass surrounded him again, like once before in his life. But he couldn’t remember how or where. As his feet started to sink, he remembered. The grass started to solidify as Satoyashi remembered things about being a Shinigami. The will to fight, to always survive and to protect the world. The grass started to solidify, and Satoyashi pulled his feet out to stand on solid ground finally. Two people stood before him; one man facing him, eyes shining a bright blue, piercing through the darkness induced from the hood he was wearing. His hair was a crimson color, abut two strands peaking out of the cloak. As a breeze blew, the cloak did not move at all. "Hm, maybe you need my help?"

"What are you talking about? Where am I?" Satoyashi said, completely blowing off his question as he took a step forward.

The cloaked figure tuned to the other man, though his voice seemed as if he were speaking to himself, "I was right, he can do it! He can walk." In response, there was only a chuckle from the man, a sound that echoed over the area like a cacophony, thunder rolling on over the area.

"Don't mind him. We will not harm you. In fact, we are parts of something bigger, here. We are parts of the land here, and it wishes you to know something. The world here wants you to know its name, Shira Kosaku. Say the name aloud, and then wake…" The laugh of the other man rumbled in the distance again, as his form, a splitting image of him, although in quite the opposite colors, seemed to splash, like it was water hit by a rock, then it fell to the earth, only dead grass.

Seconds later, Satoyashi spoke the name, but more words flowed from his mouth... "Kaihou Goshujin Kasaneru Tsumi, Shira Kosaku!"

When Satoyashi woke, his Zanpakuto was changed completely. He struck, then, a huge explosion ranging from his Zanpakuto, and completely destroyed the "mother" Hollow.

On his re-arrival to Seireitei, he was offered a promotion, to Lieutenant. He accepted, but only on the condition that he could visit the spot of his friends' death each year on the day; May fourth.

Of course, the next time he visited would be his last. May fourth, now also remembered as the day of dissapearance of Tanabe Satoyashi. Upon arrival at the graveyard, he ditched his Shinigami uniform for newer clothings. That, was the only trace left of him.

The following paragraphs are a quick "skit" of what happened to completely manifest his Vizard abilities.
He realized that his soul had contracted the most unholy of diseases, and began to show signs of becoming that of a hollow in a most unsightly way, his original abilities began to show fault as he began to believe that he had fallen into the pits of the utmost disgrace, as he had the most debilitating power ever, his soul was becoming that of a Hollow. He began to realize the severity of having his soul slowly being contaminated by a hollow, now going into a self-depression, where he even feared himself out of all people!

Satoyashi lost track of his own powers and frequently attempt to keep his hollow away from his own mind and stop it from making him what he is. Eventually, he grew tired of fighting the hollow from the outside and requested himself to be forced inside his inner world, at the very core of his own soul to force the Hollow to submit to him. This was a wrong on his part, however it is a way that he managed continue upwards.

Soon later, Satoyashi learned that his hollow is no more than an extension of his abilities, the hollow then submited to Satoyashi. This granted him a part of the hollow's power by materializing a mask on him. That was the turning point, in which Satoyashi no longer feared the hollow directly, however, indirectly the hollow still lingered at the top.

Satoyashi then began to converse with his inner hollow. He learned that the hollow was not the bloodthirsty creature he thought it was, it was the lost part of his own soul. This is where the Hollow granted its own ability to Satoyashi, in exchange for the Satoyashi granting the hollow part of his own soul. By now, Satoyashi was on the verge of using the Hollow's ability to further his own power.

The top of control of the inner hollow by conventional means was now able to be practiced by Satoyashi. Satoyashi now knew that the hollow was like looking in a mirror, it is he himself, both forward and backward the hollow was a residual self image of the Satoyashi, which is the reason why he initially caused so much fear and anguish in Satoyashi. End.
